Excerpts from Brazos Valley Bride magazine's
Vendor Spotlight:
Your Day, Your Way.
That's the mantra of Michael Kellett Professional Photography.
Since 1992, Michael has made the wishes of brides across the country
his top priority.
In a world of impersonal Internet searches and bargain priced
outlets, Michael strives to offer discerning brides an alternative
to the average... Something beyond the norm, something different.
Step into Michael's studio and you immediately know this is not
your average photographer. Antique furnishings accent classical
portraiture, framed in magnificent guilded frames. His photography
is a fine balance of traditional technique combined with a modern,
relaxed style.
"Every bride wants the spontaneous images that photojournalism
offers. And that's a big part of what we do," says Michael. "But
we also look a few years into the future, when traditional portrait
images become cherished family heirlooms. Brides who choose one
over the other on their most important day are missing out.”
Michael's wedding albums tell an amazing story that begins with
the bride's preparations and continues to the bride and groom's
farewell sendoff from the reception. "We don't package our
photography based on this many hours, or so many 8x10's... That's
too confining and limits how creative we can be in telling the
wedding story. Instead, you have us for the day," says Kellett.
Keeping up with the latest trends is important to Michael, whose
storytelling images have been featured in national publications
including Modern Bride magazine and The Knot's Real Weddings magazine.
"If a certain style of shoes or a particular accessory is
hot this year, and one of my brides is wearing that, I'm going
to make sure it's featured in her wedding story," he says. "She
has invested a great deal of time and money making sure everything
is perfect, just as I do."
"The wedding day is a great symphony of emotions that all
come together in one place, at one time, like no other," says
Kellett. " The florist, the caterer, the coordinator, the
deejay, and the photographer... We're all working in concert to
make the bride's day happen. While I certainly don't try to become
the conductor, the photographer often becomes the leader by default.
Handling that responsibility with firm direction and real compassion
is where the experience pays off!" |
